About the Formula
Bacterius® EQUINOX is a temperature resistant bacteria treatment composed of beneficial bacterial strains selected for their ability to naturally decompose organic matter in water and sludge.
These bacteria produce large quantities of enzymes that break down organic matter into smaller, simpler molecules which are easily degraded in the environment. Those beneficial bacteria adapt quickly and colonize their environment efficiently, even when conditions limit the activity of most bacterial treatments such as low temperatures and salt water.
Their rapid deployment in aquatic environments helps maintain a dynamic biological balance, improving overall water quality, and reducing organic buildup.

What Happens to My Pond in Autumn and Winter?
In Quebec, as soon as fall arrives, the leaves begin to fall, temperatures drop, and biological activity slows down, leading to a rapid accumulation of organic matter at the bottom of your pond. Bacterius® EQUINOX helps digest these new organic inputs before they turn into excessive sludge and nutrient reserves, supporting biological balance even when water temperatures drop and most bacteria slow down. Its temperature-resistant formulation allows the pond ecosystem to remain biologically active longer into the cold season and better prepared for winter.
What Happens to My Pond in Spring?
In spring, melting snow and surface runoff often bring excess nutrients into the pond. At the same time, unpleasant odours caused by H₂S (hydrogen sulfide), accumulated over winter in low-oxygen conditions, may appear. At this time of year, water temperatures are still too cool for most naturally occurring bacteria to be fully active. Due to its cold-water optimization and temperature-resistant strains, Bacterius® EQUINOX remains effective in these conditions, helping reduce excess nutrients, accelerate the breakdown of accumulated organic matter, and eliminate odours during early-season recovery.
What Happens to My Pond in Summer?
In summer, warmer temperatures increase biological activity, but they also speed up the buildup of organic matter such as sludge and muck from fish waste, dead algae, and plant debris. This carbon-rich material can reduce water quality and consume oxygen if left untreated. Bacterius® Equinox remains highly effective in warm water, where it excels at breaking down carbon-rich organic matter and reducing sludge buildup. This helps maintain clearer water, better oxygen balance, and a healthier pond throughout the summer.
Bacterius® EQUINOX rapidly colonizes in the muck and quickly prevents the proliferation of sulfate-reducing bacteria that are responsible for H2S and contribute to anoxic conditions. H2S is a toxic gas that causes unpleasant odours (rotten egg smell) and deterioration of bacterial biofilms.
Store in a dry environment where the temperature does not exceed 70°C.

Add the treatment dose evenly over the surface to be treated. If the pond is too big to do so, add the dose in the turbulent waters of the water intake or close to any diffusers.
